1. FOCUS AND SCOPE

The Revista Científica General José María Córdova (Colombian Journal of Military and Strategic Studies), abbreviated title Rev. Cient. General José María Córdova is a peer-reviewed, open access, academic publication published quarterly by the Escuela Militar de Cadetes "General José María Córdova" (Colombian Army Military Academy - ESMIC), alma mater of the officers of the National Army of Colombia, through its ESMIC University Press (Sello Editorial ESMIC).

The Revista Científica General José María Córdova (RCGJMC) is an interdisciplinary journal focused on the Social Sciences (Class 5I01, OCDE/UNESCO). It publishes articles resulting from research in military and strategic studies. This field centers on the analysis of uncertainty scenarios in security and defense to provide to a broad readership, including decision-makers, politicians, members of the Armed Forces, professionals, educators, researchers, and students of the Social Sciences, an understanding of the legitimate use of power and its proper application concerning national interests to benefit the formulation of policies and public management.

2. MISSION AND VISION

The RCGJMC explores theoretical and empirical approaches to studying power and its legitimate use for national interests. Its objective is the construction of a strategic culture that articulates the available means with the ways and national capabilities to achieve the leading ends of the State.

As an interdisciplinary publication, the RCGJMC is a bellwether in the Latin American and Caribbean region. It converges multiple academic perspectives and professional experiences that promote strategic thinking and culture, as well as the optimization of public administration to consolidate democracy and defend human rights.

3. THEMATIC ORIENTATION AND TARGET AUDIENCE

The contents of the RCGJMC are framed in the following thematic axes and disciplines:

c) Security and Defense (International Relations)
d) Justice and Human Rights (Law)
e) State and Society (Sociology, History and Geography)
f) Intelligence and Logistics (Administration)

The RCGJMC is directed to a broad readership that includes political decision-makers, armed forces members, public servants, professionals, teachers, researchers, students of social sciences, and students in other areas of knowledge who are interested in strategic thinking and culture.

4. TYPES OF ARTICLES AND LANGUAGE

The RCGJMC publishes only scientific and technological research articles in two languages (Spanish and English). Publindex-Minciencias defines these articles as original academic documents that meticulously present technological developments or results from research projects with a minimum of 30 current sources.

5. PERIODICITY

The RCGJMC is published quarterly (January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December) in digital (e-ISSN: 2500-7645) and printed (ISSN: 1900-6586) format. Each issue's online and printed versions are published on the last day of the last month. The January-March issue is published on March 30th, April-Jun on June 30th, July-September on September 30th, and October-November on December 30th. Each RCGJMC article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) for identification and reference.

6. FUNDING

The RCGJMC is an academic publication of the Escuela Militar de Cadetes "General José María Córdova" (Colombian Army Military Academy - ESMIC), which belongs to the National Army of Colombia, a public entity financed by the resources allocated by the National Government. The RCGJMC accepts funding exclusively from the ESMIC to maintain its critical and independent character. Thus, RCGJMC's publishing process is entirely free of charge for the authors. There are no charges for submitting, processing, and publishing papers (no article submission or processing charges).

7. OPEN ACCESS, COPYRIGHT AND PUBLICATION LICENSE

The RCGJMC is a signatory to the Budapest Declaration; all its published contents are open access. The authors agree to transfer publishing rights to the RCGJMC and the ESMIC University Press (Sello Editorial ESMIC) under the terms of the Creative Commons license: Attribution - NonCommercial - NoDerivatives.

Thus, authors and readers can copy and redistribute the article in the final version published online by the RCGJMC, provided that the author (or authors) of the article is (are) recognized and acknowledged and no commercial use of the final published article is made or derived works or modified versions produced.

8. CROSSMARK POLICY

The RCGJMC uses Crossmark to inform its readers of changes to published articles. CrossMark is an initiative by CrossRef to provide a standardized way of locating the official version of a document. The RCGJMC recognizes the importance of maintaining the integrity of academic records for researchers and libraries, which is why it guarantees that its electronic file always has reliable content.

Clicking on the CrossMark icon informs the reader of the document's current status and provides additional information about its publication history. The contents that show the CrossMark icon are those published by the Journal currently or in the future.

9. CONTENT ARCHIVES

The RCGJMC uses the Portico platform to archive published content digitally. Authors may self-archive their article in the final version published online, in institutional, thematic repositories, or personal web pages.

The contents of the articles published by the RCGJMC express the views of the authors exclusively; therefore, they are their complete responsibility. The positions and assertions presented are the result of academic and research exercises that do not represent the official or institutional position of the Escuela Militar de Cadetes "General José María Córdova" (Colombian Army Military Academy - ESMIC), the National Army of Colombia or the Colombian Ministry of Defense.
